This classic favorite is characterised by a gentle, creamy flavour and has the added advantage of slicing easily. 

 

Cheddar takes its name from the village of Cheddar in England, where it was originally sold, but the name also refers to the ‘cheddaring’ method of manufacture.

 

It is a good cheese for just about everything from snacking to baking and works well with all types of food from fruits and vegetables to burgers and soups. It is great on Mexican dishes like nachos and tortillas or sliced on bread/sandwiches and burgers. Probably the most consumed cheese in the world.

 

Primary use

Sandwiches, grilled, on salads, casseroles or as-it -is.
